The sixth gen Ford Fiesta...time to party!

Lots of us did not know, the Ford Fiesta is already in its sixth incarnation.  With a recent facelift, Malaysia market now get the 1.5-litre Duratec engine...which should be very durable as the engine is almost 20-year-old in Ford's lineup. Throughout years of improvement, it now produces 112HP, 140Nm from it.  Paired to the 6-speed dual clutch unit, this car could be mid-paced bullet.  The drive dynamic is good, and the engine like to be revved, without hesitation.

I like how the Fiesta put the manual shift back to the gear stick instead of pedal as most of the normal driver will seldom use this.  The pedal on the steering wheel could block your hand on holding it comfortably.  The dashboard has a futuristic layout and a small dot matrix screen, which could be complicated for some, but, hey, this car is not for old people anyhow.  But still, there are too many buttons. Ford engineers should put most function to the screen instead.

The rear of the car looks the same as the outgoing unit, with slight changes to the rear light lens.  The front contains all the updates with a big-mouth grill, sportier headlamps and bonnet.  The hatchback comes with black interior, semi-leather seat, which looks good.

If you want the sedan version, you get a beige-white interior, and in no time, it will become spotty black.  Wonder why Ford think this type of interior could be a match?  It might look elegant, but zero praticality. By the way, the sedan looks weird, and if you like a sedan in this class, get a City, Vios or even the Mazda 2, forget about the Fiesta.

Safety for the car is pretty standard, with dual airbags, ABS, Traction Control, Hill Launch Assist.  The Fiesta has auto headlight and wiper now.  Not full features yet when compare to the Peugeot 208 or the upcoming Kia Picanto.

If I were you, I will wait for the Ford Fiesta with Ecoboost 1.0-litre engine.  This will bring fuel economy and engine technology to our enjoyment.
